ROTR 2011 Lineup Breakdown Part 1

The lineup has been out of a little while time, the shock is over, and while we wait for the bands to be split into two days let's rundown the lineup and take a closer look at who's going to be rocking Ohio this May.

A Perfect Circle: Playing ROTR the first time is Sunday headliners A Perfect Circle, fronted by Tool vocalist James Maynard Keenan. The band released three albums and has been on hiatus since 2004. They did a small tour at the end of 2010 and are rumored to be working on a new album. APC guitarist Billy Howerdel will make his second ROTR appearance as his other group, Ashes Divide, played the festival in 2008.

Avenged Sevenfold: Headlining Saturday night, Avenged Sevenfold are the first band in ROTR history to go from a supporting act to a headlining act. In 2009, they played ROTR slot just before headliners Motley Crue. The band is on the road supporting their fifth album Nightmare, and are sporting a new drummer Arin Ilejay; filling in after the untimely death of The Rev, and exit of touring replacement Mike Portnoy.
Disturbed: Since releasing their fifth album Asylum, their fourth straight #1 debut, Disturbed have been conquering America by headlining tour after tour. They headlined the Uproar Tour with Avenged Sevenfold and Stone Sour, Music As A Weapon Tour with Korn, and are going to headline the Rockstar Mayhem Tour this spring with Godsmack and Megadeath. Disturbed previously played ROTR in 2008, and are ready to conquer Ohio again.
Korn : Korn are touring behind their 9th studio album Korn III: Remember Who You Are, which is up for a Grammy, and already hinting at their 10th studio album. Formed in 1993, the surviving Nu-Metal rockers are approaching their 20th anniversary as a band and show no signs of stopping. They previously played ROTR in 2009.
Stone Sour: Another band that's been touring heavily in support of a new album, Stone Sour will make their first ROTR appearance this summer. The groups been steadily gaining fans since their debut release in 2002, and their latest effort, Audio Secrecy, has strong play on modern rock radio. Though this will be Stone Sour's first year at Crew Stadium, lead vocalist Corey Taylor is familiar with the territory having headlined the festival in 2009 with his other band Slipknot.
Staind: One of the most successful rock bands of the early 2000s, Staind is just getting their touring engines going and working on their 7th studio album. Lead singer Aaron Lewis has been pretty buisy lately doing solo work, and is currently on a solo acoustic tour promoting his new single "Country Boy". Staind is no stranger to ROTR, having played the festival in 2008, and will certainly put on another memorable performance this year.
Alter Bridge: The three guys from Creed with amazing vocalist Myles Kennedy instead of Scott Stapp, Alter Bridge is a rocking band that just released their third studio album. Lead singer Myles Kennedy has only recently been able to tour with his old band, as his schedule has been very buisy touring and performing with former GNR guitaritst Slash. Slash and Myles played ROTR just last year, and now with a hot new single and brand new album Myles is ready to rock Ohio again with Alter Bridge. They previously played ROTR in 2008.
Hollywood Undead: Masked rap rockers, Hollywood Undead will make their Crew Stadium debut this May, coming off a new album an a supporting role on the road with Avenged Sevenfold and Stone Sour. We'll have to see if they're any good live.
Bullet  For My Valentine: Welsh heavy metal rockers Bullet For My Valentine will return to Ohio this year after an explosive set in 2010. They're still touring behind last year's Fever album, and......they're gonna rock.

Black Label Society: Ozzy's former guitarist Zakk Wylde is now fully dedicated to his other band Black Label Society. Having just put out their 8th album Order of the Black, Zakk and the boys are ready to invade Ohio and put on a hellraising show.
