No Black Sabbath Reunion

It appeared that Heavy Metal's fore fathers Black Sabbath were possibly going to reunite in the near future. Ozzy had mentioned in several interviews that a reunion with his famous band was quite possible and that he personally wanted to make the ultimate Black Sabbath album before he died. Original drummer Bill Ward for years has been keen on another reunion, and recent interviews from bassist Geezer Butler and guitarist Tony Iommi showed no bad blood with Ozzy and small mentions of the former band mates being in contact with one another.

Today sadly it seem speculation of a Black Sabbath reunion may be unwarranted. In a posting on his official website Geezer Butler now has this to say about getting back together with his former band:
"I would like to make it clear, because of mounting speculation and rumors, that there will be definitely NO reunion of all for original members of BLACK SABBATH, whether to record an album or to tour."

No further details are revealed, but it seems clear that Geezer will at least not be participating in any Sabbath reunion. Could a reunion go on without him? Seems unlikely that Tony would reunite with Sabbath without Geezer, given their recent activity together with Ronnie James Dio in Heaven and Hell, but I guess you never know. Did Geezer have a new falling out with Ozzy (my guess), we'll just have to wait and see.

Though this news does sadden me, having never seen the mighty Sabbath live, hopefully Tony and Geezer will have some new kick ass project down the road because the last Heaven and Hell album was awesome.
