Rock on the Range Rumors: Split Lineup

As Tom Petty once mused "The waiting is the hardest part", and Tom was fucking right. So as we wait, and wait for May to roll around on the ole calendar, listening to the bands we hope to see at ROTR, one may still wonder: "How is the lineup going to be divided." Ahh, very good question sir, and why ROTR hasn't given up the goods yet, the lords of the inter webs have been scurrying up and down webs searching for that very information. So here it is, how I really believe the lineup will be divided, based on band's websites and using my brain to fill in the gaps. A couple of the lower bands could easily be switched back and forth between days, but otherwise I'm pretty confident this will be the split days and the rough order of bands.

Rock on the Range Rumors: New Bands Added

Defending the Grammys

Dumb Ass of the Week

Last Sunday, music executive Steve Soute purchased space in the New York Times to post a letter he had written to Neil Portnow and NARAS criticizing this year's Grammys. My initial response on hear about this letter was to be on Steve's side, we all know the Grammys are a flawed award show and winning the gold really means little in the scheme of things (though it can really boost your album sails for a couple weeks following the Grammys and get you lots of exposurs). Unfortunately once I read Steve's letter it became clear that he was a fucking dumb ass who has no idea what the fuck he's talking about. Seriously, this rich bastard buys time in a nationally disrupted newspaper only to show his own ignorance and horrid basis. I actually felt sorry for the Grammys after reading this piece of shit letter and felt the need to criticize Steve on the Grammy's behalf.

A Look At Nazareth's Discography

This is going to be a dozy boys and girls. Today we are going to run down and examine the cover art of Nazareth. These legendary hard rockers have released 23 albums and 7 live albums since forming in 1968, and are still rocking it today. Raise your glasses, time for a whole lotta hair of the dog.

Grammy Power
Bad news for new albums, the Grammy's were in town and the music buying public is not obsessing about the nominees and winners. Next week will show the greatest affect from the Grammys, documenting the week of sales immediately following Sunday's show, but the show's weight is already apparent. Yep the Top 20 looks pretty grim, as horrid albums by Biebs and The Black Eyed Peas rue their ugly head once more along with other top selling artist. The only debut to land in the Top 20 this week were country duo Thompson Square, while last week's new releases disappeared from memory. It's a cruel chart this week, but next week's could be crueler.

Best Videos of 2011 So Far

Though MTV has given up on showing videos, the medium is still important for bands to promote themselves and build interest in new songs and new albums. Now instead of waiting for their favorite video to show up on a TV show rotation, music fans have YouTube and any number of other sites to see the hottest new videos. Now we're only in the second month of 2011, but there have already been some fucking awesome videos dropped and here are my personal favorites thus far.

Rock and Roll Hall of Shame Inductors

It was announced today who the inductors for this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony will be. For the most part I feel they did a good job of picking friends, contemporaries, and close followers to induct these legends, a practice the Hall often does not always employ. First up, Neil Young will be inducting his old friend Tom Waits. Like the Hall or not, Neil Young and Tom Waits on stage together is pretty badass.

ROTR 2011 Lineup Breakdown Part 1
