Midwest Rock Festivals: ROTR Has Competition This Year

We're about a month away from ROTR's big lineup announcement, but in the mean time it looks as though it may have competition from other Rock festivals. ROTR's success has not gone unnoticed and it looks as though a few new festivals will be birthed this summer to pull in concert lovers.

July 14-16, Starshow Presents is putting on a 3 day festival in Oshkosh, WI called Rock USA, which strongly promotes the best Rock and Roll for the lowest cost. No lineup has been announced yet, but the festival's offical website states that it has a wishlist of artist including Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Aerosmith, Alice in Chains, Nickelback, Lynryd Skynyrd, Journey, and Daughtry. Sounds like a pretty good lineup to me. Rock fans visiting the website can let the promoters know what bands they'd like to see at the new festival.

I'm personally looking forward to hearing more about this festival, (especially since I live in MN) and am curious to see if this turns out to be more of a Classic Rock vibe, or maybe a mix of old and new like they often do at  Rock-Fest, which is also in Wisconsin and curiously on the exactly same weekend as Rock USA.

Besides Rock USA, we've already discussed that Pearl Jam are planning a weekend music festival for this summer (more info here) and rumors are swirling of a new Rock Festival in North Carolina put on by the same promoters who do ROTR. Dam man, sounds like it's going to be a rocking summer.
