Corey Taylor Joining Velvet Revolver?

Remember Velvet Revolver, the not quite GNR band that had Stone Temple Pilot's lead singer? The put out two pretty rocking albums and broke up in 2008 when relations with lead singer Scott Weiland went array. They band planned to soldier on without Scott, who has rejoined his old bandmates in STP and sadly fallen into old drinking habits, but were unable to find a suitable replacement. Since 2008, we've heard murmurs on and on about how they almost have a new singer, are auditioning new singers, are working on new material, and will undoubtedly return. Now it seems that return could be a not too distant reality with Slash and Matt Sorum both comfirming that VR has found a new lead singer and have laid down nine new demo tracks. But who could this new singer be?

Honestly we don't know at this point but the internet is buzzing with rumors that one Corey Taylor, lead singer of Slipknot and Stone Sour, is their man. What are these rumors based on you ask, well basically threee things.
1). It has been confirmed by both VR and Taylor that he did at one point audition for the band.
2). It has been said by VR that their new singer has a 'heavier' style.
3). Slash's wife Tweeted last Saturday "At dinner with @KraveKelly @Slash and mr corey! Good times good food, all good! Love my peeps!"

Could Taylor than be joining VR? Well it certainly seems possible and Corey does have a lot of different musical interests, but the main question is does Taylor have the time? He already has two high profile bands under his belt, not to mention a solo disc he keeps talking about wanting to release. It would certainly put Stone Sour and Slipknot plans on the back burner for a little while (Stone Sour is heading out on a winter tour with AX7, and Slipknot already has summer festival dates booked). Besides the time constraint, would Taylor's record label even let him join VR, they reportedly were a strong componet of Taylor not joining Anthrax in 2007. I guess like always, VR will make us wait and wait for any kind of confirmation.
