ROTR 2012: No Nickelback or Van Halen

Yesterday Canadian rockers Nickelback announced their Here and Now Tour, and looking over the dates it eliminates them for the running of being at Rock on the Range this year. Although many fans would like Nickelback to be at ROTR, besides the conflicting dates the band also has an exclusive contract with Live Nation prohibiting them from playing venues not associated with Live Nation. Rock on the Range is run by AEG Live.

Nickelback's big tour announcement also a few other band from playing this year's ROTR. Bush, Seether, and My Darkest Days are opening for Nickelback on all their dates and because of this will not be able to play the Columbus Festival. ROTR runs May 18-20, while Nickelback will be playing Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on May 18 and Fargo, North Dakota on May 20. Saskatoon is about 28 hours away from Columbus so you can cross Bush, Seether, and My Darkest Days off your ROTR list for this year.

Rock and Roll legends Van Halen have been making a lot of noise the past week with news on their new album, tour, and single. Studying their listed tour dates, one can easily deduce that Diamond Dave and crew will be missing out on the Columbus festival. Through the 45 dates, the band never plays two days in a row and isn't booked for any festivals. With a show scheduled in St. Paul on May 19 (followed by a Kansas City date on May 22) we sadly wont be hearing Eddie shred his guitar this year.

  1. Well thats a relief about that whole Nickelback tour no need to see those bands again but Van Halen would have been cool even without Michael Anthony
