Billboard Blitz!!!!! May 2

Still Ruling the Charts?

Nope

The Grammys have come and gone, but their impact is still very much alive in the Billboard Charts. This weeks Top 20 is muscled by the winner and performers of the Grammys, and while dumb dumbs like Steve Stout whine and bitch that his rich superstar musicans clients didn't claim all the major awards and were thusly exploited by the Grammys, hmmmm look at all the albums they're selling after being on that telecast. Oh ya and Adele is fucking owning the music world right now with her powerfully elegant voice. Her new album has bitched the crown from lil Biebs, and her debut album has re-entered the charts at #16. You go girl. Sadly she's the only debut to come anywhere near the Top 20, so it's the same ole faces for another fucking week......yay......

20. The Black Keys Brothers
19. Kanye West My Dark Twisted Fantasy
18. Florence and the Machine Lungs
17. Arcade Fire The Suburbs
16. Adele 19
15. 2011 Grammy Nominees
14. Taylor Swift Speak Now
13. Katy Perry Teenage Dream
12. Pink Greatest Hits....So Far!!
11. Jason Aldean My Kinda Party

10. Lady Antebellum Need You Now
Man oh man, with all these entry repeats from week to week it really stifles anything to discuss. This album has been in the charts for 57 weeks and the trio should be very proud of themselves. Lol, I like in today's world depending on where you live it's ok to fucking hate Country Music, people fucking hate on it hardcore. Go against the grain boys, put down that Hip Hop shit (that does get lots of exposure and praise all over the fucking music industry despite the constant bitching of it's artist and fanbase) and turn up that steel guitar. Go against the grain, lol. But now for something completely different, here's a new music video from The Strokes; enjoy.

Love the guitars on this song, opera houses are awesome.

9. Pink Friday Nicki Minaj
So what comes after Pink Friday, Blue Saturday? I'm starring at the name of a new debut on the Billboard Charts, Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows, and while I can't but think thats actually kind of a cool name, I have a sneaking suspicion it's one of these shitty Christian music outfits. God I hope it's Christian Rap, sometimes that's at least a bit new and amusing, instead of the fucking boring as hell, ironically uninspired, Christian Rock BS that keeps fucking showing up on these fucking charts every god dam motherfucking week......Shall we have a listen?

Alright so things weren't as bad as I assumed. This is a new post-hardcore band consisting of members from Chiodos, Story of the Year, Matchbook Romance, Underminded, and From First to Last. They probably have Christian convictions but it's not entirely notable in their song lyrics and it's certainly not shoved in your face. Song really feels like something to be played at a Hot Topic Store or on Fuse (does Fuse still play music?). It's alright I guess, don't see myself pursuing any further interest in these guys.

8. Rihanna Loud
Hey Rihanna, whats going on? Did you buy the new DevilDriver album last week, it's getting a lot of love in the metal internet scene. Oh really, you've never heard of Devil Driver? Well sit that fine ass of yours down and have a listen with me, oh and don't mind my hands, they're just making sure you don't get blown away.

Dam, that shit was fucking awesome. Play it again, but LOUDER.

7. Eminem Recovery
You had the best selling album of 2010, and it looks like you'll certainly be on the list for best selling albums of 2011 the way things are going. As much as I disliked the song, we're going to watch the video for "I Need A Doctor" only because I heard it's hilariously ridiculous. You better not have fucking lied to me Spin.

Wasn't really that funny...clip of Dre in a bright purple surgeon suite was kinda cool, he's had a long interesting career. Song's a complete predicate to an album Dre has been hinting at for fucking years now. With all that wait and build up, in the end is it really good for the album?

6. Bruno Mars Doo-Wops and Hooligans
G. Love and Special Sauce is coming to Duluth, MN on April 27, and their new album just land at #36 on the charts. Oh, and Bruno Mars is still selling a shit load of records.
Holy shit that was awesome, definitely going to that show now.

5. Justin Bieber My World 2.0
He's got a new haircut, he's on the cover of Rolling Stone, he's got a blockbuster movie, and apparently he's got a girlfriend (millions of girls want to be her/hate her). Elsewhere in the music world though, Low Anthem's new album just barely lands on the Billboard Top 200, coming in at #198.

Ah, I'm a sucker for good harmonies. The anthem may be low, but it's powerful man, real powerful.

4. Now 37
After watching the review on The Needle Drop, I was somwhat curious to hear somthing off the new Toro Y Moi album. I've never heard of or listened to Toror Y Moi (so glad I can just type that and don't have to attempt to say it), but I'm always hip to new music, jive turkeys.

I love the way this song transports me. Suddenly I'm not in my living room in 2011, I'm fucking grooving through some awesome 1970's movie. Not sure what I'm up to, but the beat is moving and I'm really feeling it, are you?

3. Mumford and Sons Sigh No More
If you tun into this blog entry regularly (you better fucking be), than you're aware we've heard just about everything off Sight No More. So, let's hear a track off Bayside's new album Killing Time.

Eh, really having a hard time deciding if I think this song is good or mediocre. On one hand I want to complain that the vocals are to whiney but just as I'm about to say it the lead singer alters this delivery and the song shifts gears. Need to spend more time with this band, but I won't cause I don't really care about liking them. If they're at the Warped Tour this year (the bigger 'if' is whether I'll be at the Warped Tour this year) I'll check them out.

2. Justin Bieber Never Say Never: The Remix
Jesus, have I played any of the artist on the Top 10 this week, ya Eminem was in the Dre video, so we're cool. Anyway, I've been listening to Radiohead's new album pretty feverishly over the past weeks (fucking loving it) and here's my favorite track off this album at this particular moment.
Fucking genius.

1. Adele 21
Everyone is loving Adele right now as her album roars onto the charts, with the best sales on the Billboard Charts for an album since the week when Kanye and Nicki Minaj's albums dropped. Fine with me, Adele has incredible talent and a young but impressive catalog. I've played this song on the blog before, but here's the live rendition because it's such a fucking awesome song.

Yep she can sing, almost nothing is lost between this version and the recorded version.

Debuts
Adele 21 1
Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows D.R.U.G.S 29
Bayside Killing Time 35
G. Love Fixin' To Die 36
Celtic Thunder Heritage 40
DevilDriver Beast 42
Patrick Stump Truant Waves 67
I See Stars The End of the World Party 144
Kutless It Is Well
Joell Ortiz Free Agent 173
Darkest Hour The Human Romance 185
Toro Y Moi Underneath The Pine 186
The Low Anthem Smart Flesh 198

Whatever happened to.......last week's Top 10?
10. Rihanna 8
9. Nicki Minaj 9
8. Justin Bieber 5
7. 2011 Grammy Nominees 15
6. Eminem 7
5. Bruno Mars 6
4. Lady Antebellum 10
3. Now 37 4
2. Mumford and Sons 3
1. Justin Bieber 2

Only one of last week's Top 10 albums fell into the Top 20, otherwise there was just minimal shifting to allow room for Adele this week.
