So what does this new tour tell us about ROTR? Well all three bands are veterans of the festival and the new tour so far only conflicts with the Friday Night Foreplay show.
Godsmack headlined ROTR two years ago so I don't see them coming back this year. It would be ridiculous to have a headliner back that soon, and after headlining one year it's hard to imagine Godsmack playing a lower lot at Columbus.
Staind played ROTR last year and in 2008. Since their set last year, the band has released their 7th studio album and had #1 Mainstream Rock single. While I personally don't like bands playing back to back years at ROTR (especially when they played second only to Korn and Avenged Sevenfold on Day 1 last year), it's not entirely unlikely.
Halestorm previously played ROTR in 2009 and 2010. They put out a six song covers album last year and should have a new album out later this year. Of the three bands on this tour, I gotta think Halestorm is the most likely to be at ROTR given that they haven't played the festival in a few years, have new music coming out, and are less expensive than a band like Godsmack or Staind. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
