The VMA Effect
(Queen Guitarist Brian May sitting beside a cross dressing Lady Gaga)
So MTV's Music Video Awards were last week and its effects are now rippling through the Billboard 200. I personally didn't watch the event but we all know the particulars: Beyonce is having a baby, Lady Gaga dressed in drag, Adele sang, and rock contiues to be nearly a non-present. In the Top 10, five remain from last week, we have four debuts, and the return of Beyonce (apparently maternity news sells albums, who knew).

If you haven't seen Jeff Tweedy covering The Black Eyed Peas, seen it now:
Brillant.
9. Barbra Streisand What Matters Most
Another cover that's getting a lot of notoriety this week is Ryan Adams covering Iron Maiden.
Good work Ryan.
8. The Game The R.E.D Album
Here's Lady Gaga's hot new single featuring Queen guitarist Brian May.
I'm digging this song.
7. Beyonce 4
As Beyonce and Jay-Z perpare to welcome new life into their family, an old legend is nearing the end of his road. This week Glen Campell, the rhinestone cowboy, has released what is most likely his final album as he perpares to go on his final tour. Glen has alzheimer's disease.
Good stuff Glen.
6. Jake Owen Barefoot Blue Jean Night
Another week, another heart throb Country star I've never heard of. This week it's Jake Owen with his third album and first Country #1. Here's the #1 country single off this album.
Sounds like a Country Peter Pan story.
5. David Guetta Nothing But the Beat
Everyone is loving the DJs these days, and French beat maker David Guetta is one of the most popular.
Sitting alone at my laptop, I too am wondering "where are them girls at?". Silly fun club song.
4. Jay-Z and Kanye West Watch the Throne
Well I guess we'll contiue going through this album track by track. Here's #5.
I don't like this song.
3. Adele 21
That a way girl, don't let anybody take away your #3 spot. Hey Adele, you much of a Lenny Kravitz fan? Ya, lol, he's still around, he actually has a new album out this week. Shall we have a listen to it?
Humorous, song's really nothing special though Lenny. Nice try though.
2. Red Hot Chili Peppers I'm With You
Their first album since 2006's Stadium Arcadium, the Peppers have scored their sixth Top 10 debut. Sadly not even the Chili Peppers can score to high of a release in this ant-rock landscape we seem to be living in, but the album is good in my opinion. This might be the best track on the album.
1. Lil Wayne The Carter VI
The biggest news in the Top 10 this week is the powerful debut of Lil Wayne's 9th studio album. It's the biggest debut of 2011 (save Lady Gaga, but she cheated), and Weezy has been dropping a slew of singles in the previous weeks to get it. Here's one of them:
Here's what I understand for this song: Don't fuck with Weezy cause your a pussy and he'll destroy you. Weezy loves guns and pussy. If (god forbid) Weezy were to die, he'd be as famous as John Lennon (lol). Not feeling it man.
