7/8/11

Billboard Blitz!!!!! 7-7

Beyonce is this week's Billboard Queen, but you know what her new album reminds me of....

Doubt Beyonce's album is this good though

25. Katy Perry Teenage Dream
24. Lauren Alaina American Idol Season 10 Highlights
23. Mumford and Sons Sigh No More
22. Curren$Y Weekend At Burnies
21. Brad Paisley This Is Country Music
20. Gillian Welch The Harrow and The Harvest
19. NOW 38
18. Blacke Shelton The Best Of
17. Taking Back Sunday Taking Back Sunday
16. Limp Bizkit Gold Cobra
15. Rave On: Buddy Holly
14. Planet Pit Pitbull
13. Justion Moore Outlaws Like Me
12. Lady Gaga Born This Way
11. Bon Iver Bon Iver

10. Scotty McCreery American Idol Seaon 10 Highlights
A $5 five song collection from this year's American Idol champ. I have no idea who Scotty McCreery is (I stop watching Idol after the audition phase is over) but I'm still shocked at all the guest stars Idol had in its finalee; Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Judas Priest, Iggy Pop, etc.

Who would have perdicted this ever happening. Much as I love the Metal God, not sure I like it.

9. Bad Meets Evil Hell: the Sequel
Week 3 and Eminem's little side project is just barely hanging on to the Top 10. Else where on the charts, on of the 90s most successful rap-rock outfits has dropped their return album after reuniting last year. Haters gonna hate but Durst and Limp Bizkit are back.

Takes me back to my middle shool days.

8. Jackie Evancho Dream With Me
Her parents but be so proud of her, rocking the music world and bringing home the bacon at such a young age. I wonder if she'll last in the music buisness after the gimmick of an amazing 11 year old wears off? Back to bands reuniting, Long Island rockers Taking Back Sunday have returned though honestly I hadn't realized they ever left. They were a good band mid 2000s, but around the time Fred Mascherino left the group so did I. Now they're back with their first album lineup, so let's have a listen.

7. David Cook This Loud Morning
Lots of American Idol crap in the Billboard 200 this week, and here's David Cook Seaon 7's champ. Gonna be tough for David to match his 2008 platinum release folling his Idol reign, but in Billboard world anything is possible (though not likely).

Dear god David, this song is so fucking generic. There are like a dozen songs exactly like this, done better, that everyone would rather be listening to. Lol, wouldn't it be funny if after this single David had no other charting singles, it was like the music buisness said their last goodbye to him.

6. Jason Aldean My Kinda Party
Like I said last week, Country fans are loving Jason Aldean. After last week, it looked like Aldean was going to slip out of the Top 10 but once again he's rebounded up four spots. Good work Jason, time for some Al though.

5. Jill Scott The Light of The Sun
The Top 10 is a tough place for artists who aren't roaring in the mainstream, often falling far out of the Top 10 following their first week. Jill Scott should be pleased she's only fallen half way down the rung. Elsewhere, a great number of top notch artists have gathered to honor a Texas boy who in only a few years changed Rock and Roll and became a legend. Here is Florence and The Machine's take on a classic Buddy Holly tune.

My god that girl can sing, excellant cover.

4. Selena Gomez and the Scene When The Sun Goes Down
Another young money maker from the Disney farm, Selena Gomez is a triple threat starring in movies and television along with her recent recording career. Forming a band in 2009, Selena has released three albums in three years, the previous two albums both also debuted within the Top 10 and are currently certified Gold status. Tweens love Selena.

Huh, I was expecting this to be a pile of shit. Can't say I'm loving it but it's at least decent. Rock on tween, oh and I said you're not perfect.

3. Big Sean Finally Famous
Big Sean has a strong finish with this first studio album. The California rapper has gained a steady following with his mixtape trilogy, being signed to Kanye West's label and boasting a number of famous guest spots on this new record (Chris Brown, Pharrell, etc). The album title seems appropriate.

Sorry Sean, I'm not a big fan of this. Congrads on being famous though.

2. Adele 21
19 weeks at or very near the tippy top of Billboard Mountain. One wonders where she'll be in week 21? (Clue: not far where she is now).

1. Beyonce 4
Beyonce's fourth solo album is also her fourth straight #1 solo debut. Lacking a strong single to push album sales, 4 is Beyonce's lowest sales debut but that could easily change if another "Single Ladies" is found on he disc. For the time being lets hear her current single "Run the World (Girls)" currently #29 on the Billboard Hot 100.

New Releases
31. James Durbin American Idol Season 10 Highlights
37. Haley Reinhart American Idol Season 10 Highlights
51. Dolly Parton Better Day
52. Thievery Corporation Culture of Fear
56. Luis Fonsi Tierra Firme
70. Queensryche Dedicated To Chaos
71. Earnest Pugh Earnestly Yours
165. Set Your Goals Burning At Both Ends

What ever happened to......last week's Top 10?
10. Jason Aldean   6
9. Weird Al           44
8. Lady Gaga        12
7. Pitbull               14
6. Bad Meets Evil  9
5. Justin Moore     13
4. Jackie Evancho  8
3. Adele                2
2. Bon Iver           11
1. Jill Scott            5

Another big shake up, as half of last weeks Top 10 entrys tumble out of the ranks. Weird Al took the biggest drop, falling 35 positions, everyone else found home within the Top 15. Sad news for Al, seems all this fan ran out and bought the album in week 1; the new album is decent though not hardly as good as his last effort Straight Out of Lynwood with the monster single "White and Nerdy".
