Billboard Blitz!!!!! 7-14

This week....looks a lot like last week.

In the Billboard Top 25, there is only one debut. In the Billboard Top 10, 8 were in the Top 10 last week, 1 is our debut, and 1 is Lady Gaga climbing back into the Top 10. Hmm, seems like no one wanted to buy any new albums last week.

25. Nicki Minaj Pink Friday
24. The Band Perry The Band Perry
23. Rave On: Buddy Holly
22. Adele 19
21. Bruno Mars Doo-Woops and Hooligans
20. Taylor Swift Speak Now
19. Scotty McCreery American Idol Season 10 Highlights
18. Zac Brown Band You Get What You Give
17. Katy Perry Teenage Dream
16. Pitbull Planet Pit
15. Mumford and Sons Sigh No More
14. Brad Paisley This Is Country Music
13. NOW 38
12. Justin Moore Outlaws Like Me
11. Bon Iver Bon Iver

10. Lloyd King of Hearts
Congradulations Lloyd, you're the only debut this week to make it into the Top 10 (though only 5 albums made the entire Billboard 200). Lloyd is an R and B singer from Atlanta, Georgia. This is his 4th album, trying to match the success of this 2nd album, Street Love, which went Gold in 2007. I haven't had much love for R and B singers I've never heard of lately, but hey, Lloyd may surprise me.

Lloyd is certainly one cool customer, with the pitch high voice of a young lad waiting for his balls to drop. Yep I definately can see why he was in the Atlanta based boy band N-Toon. Very forgettable song.

9. Big Sean Finally Famous
Here is the new single off Pop Evil's second album, War of Angels. Enjoy.

Sounds like they're trying to be Shinedown, and failing at it. I don't really care for this one.

8. Lady Gaga Born This Way
Rising from #12 to #8, Gaga is back seven weeks after her album dropped. Looking over Born This Way's track listing, I was queried by "You and I" with features Queen guitarist Brian May and was co-produced by Mutt Lange.

Dam, this song is actually pretty rocking.

7. Jill Scott The Light of the Sun
We the Kings is a pop punk band from Florida. This is there 3rd album. This is the single:

A fun catchy tune I don't hate, or consider very punky. What the fuck is Pop Punk?

6. Jackie Evancho Dream With Me
I keep meaning to listen to the Old 97s. They have a new live album out, The Grand Theatre Vol. 2, and I guess this is my chance.

This song is not on the new live album, instead it was the top Old 97s song on Youtube. I like it, but I was expecting a more rustic, Americana sound from these guys. Oh well.

5. Bad Meets Evil Hell: The Sequel
Metalcore rockers from Massachusetts, Unearth's fifth studio album dropped this week. I've never listened to them before, but what the fuck, today is a new day of discovery, right?

Oh ya, this is a headbanger. They sound so angry on not making it into the Top 10..or Top 20...hey guys Top 75 ain't bad. Lemmy's new band didnt even rank that high this week.

4. Jason Aldean My Kinda Party
Speaking of Lemmy, his other band, not Motorhead, have released a new album. The band is called Headcat. The album is called Walk The Walk, Talk The Talk. Here's a sample of the boys covering Johnny Cash.

Like McDonalds, I'm loving it.

3. Selena Gomez and the Scene When the Sun Goes Down

Kind of shocked she's 18, but she is very professional. Thanks Dave.

2. Adele 21
Sure, let's hear another track from Adele's 21, the best selling album of 2011, on the charts for the past 20 weeks.

Mesmerizing talent, simply wonderful.

1. Beyonce 4
To hold last week's crown and stave off the always waiting Adele, Beyonce launched a brand new single wint a brand new music video. Jay-Z must be happy with his Queen.

Funny to see sexy lingerie Beyonce happy someone didn't put a ring on it. I would only enjoy this song in music video form, cause the song kinda sucks and starring at Beyonce's revealed body is the only thing keeping me interested.

  1. In my natural state of confusion, I read through this expecting you to give an opinion on Bon Iver, because he appeared at the top of the entry. Such an opinion never arrived. Fail. (However, it should be noted that the failure rests on my inability to properly compute textual cues. Furtherly however, I will not remember this; I will remember it as your failure to give an opinion on Bon Iver.)-Alethea
