10. Lupe Fiasco Lasers
Week 2 for Lupe and he's just barely surviving the Top 10. For the most part critics have been disapointed with this new album, though they tend to blame the production and beats instaed of Lupe's lyrics. I've never listened to any of this albums so it's hard for me to say, this is album 3 for Lupe.
Good work here Modest Mouse, apparently you write music good enough for it to be sampled (stolen) by Lupe Fiasco. Songs decently enjoyable I suppose but the lyrics seem so simplistic, generic, and perdicatalbe with a heavily sampled music backing just feels like lazy effort to me.
9. Bobby V Fly On The Wall
Bobby V is an R and B singer and this is his fourth album.
Awful, but I might put it on if I'm tyring to sexy a mature black woman.
8. Mumford and Sons Sigh No More
53 weeks out and Mumford is holding on the Top Ten, one of only three records to remain from last week. Way way down at #162 singer songwriter William Fitzsimmons's fifth album makes it's debut. I've never heard of this songwriter before but I like the name of his album, Gold In the Shadow, and he also has an impressive beard.
Nothing super special about this song but it is enjoyable.
7. Panic! At The Disco Vices and Virtues
I never liked Panic, they fucking sucked dick on their first record and I never bothered with any of their following efforts; this is coming from a guy who actually enjoy most of Fallout Boy's catalouge. So this should be a fun listen, they've lost two members and have cut back an all that stupid eye liner and elaborate dress. Meet Panic! circa 2011.
.....still not a fan.
6. Songs For Japan
For $10 you can own this 38 song collection from some of the world's biggest artist and the proceeds go to aid those many sufferers in Japan. Buy it. Further down the the charts just barely in the Top 20, pop punkers Yellowcard return from breakup with their first album since 2007's Paper Walls. These guys really take me back to my high school days, cranking their 2003 breakout album Ocean's Avenue as we all go drivers licenses.
Sounds like the same old Yellowcard, always did enjoy the violinist in the group. That being said I really don't have an interest in the band anymore, but if our paths happen to cross someday at Warped Tour or somthing I'll give them a listen; maybe through in Ocean's Avenue in five years to remineice.
5. Kirk Franklin Hello Fear
Right in the middle of the Top 10, Gospel singer Kirk Franklin has his best showing since 2002. I've never heard or listened to this gospel singer before, so here comes the first single off his new album.
Catchy beat but I can't get past how stupid the premise in this song is. Things are bad in the world but just smile cause God is out there working. Working on what exactly, couldn't he just make everything better? Dumb.
4. The Strokes Angles
I was hoping for a stronger showing from The Strokes as they finally returned to the music scene, but they landed at #4 just like their previous two albums.
Kind of trippy but I still digg it, on of the many different strokes musically on this album. Loads of different angles.
3. Adele 21
She's lost her crown again in week 5 sales are still strong for the young Brit. Elsewhere on the charts, blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa unearthes his 8th solo album. Coming in at #37, Joe has bested last year's Black Rock by two positions.
Yes, yes, yes, that is what I call music man. Joe lays down another bad ass track here, definately will have to check out the rest of the album.
2. Jennifer Hudson I Remember Me
It's Jennifer Hudson's second album and second #2 debut following 2008's self titled release. Huh I did not know she was from American Idol (came in 7th place on Season 3), but she was excellant in 2006's Dreamgirls. She has a great voice, so let's see what she's up to in 2011.
Hudson is sexy, decent voice, but I just don't really dig this song or genre really. I'm right here Jennifer.
1. Chris Brown F.A.M.E.
Never really been a fan of Chris Brown's work and the Rihanna beating was a good excuse to openly hate him. But time has gone by, he's apoligized and apoligized, and how he's back in the Top 10 for the fourth consecutive release and his highest debut. Well let's give it a listen, maybe Chris's fly beats can convert me.
Wow, that was soooo fucking bad. Absolutely nothing good about this song, Brown, Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes all suck it up hardcore and display just how awesome it is to spit rhymes super fast talking about fucking nothing.
