Seem odd to anyone else?
Apparently people are still missing the late King of Pop and a tribute concert in his honor is currently planned for October 8, at the Wales Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Performers at the show include KISS, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Smokey Robinson, Leona Lewis, and JLS. The Jackson Five will not be reuniting for the concert as two brothers, Jermaine and Randy, are against holding a concert while Michael's former doctor is currently on trial. Michael's mother on the other hand is a strong supporter of the show, and several of Michaels other brothers, and nephews, will perform. When I think of a Michael Jackson tribute show, KISS really doesn't come to mind and in fact many Jackson fans were puzzled and upset by the announcement. Will KISS just do anything at this point? Are they getting paid? Did they have some strange connection to Michael I'm just unaware of?
Fans are additionally pissed about the announcement because KISS vocalist and bassist Gene Simmons has made no bones about calling Michael a child molester following the singer's deaths. As reported on Blabbermouth:
In a 2010 issue of U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine, KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons told journalist Geoff Barton he believed Jackson was a child molester despite the fact that the singer was acquitted of child-molestation charges in 2005.
"I knew Michael," Simmons was quoted as saying. "I ran into him a few times. I met him the first time before he became the superstar, when he was sort of teenagey, when he was still a JACKSON FIVE. This was in the Cher days, when Cher and I lived together.
"But as time moved on, and no matter what my fond memories and fond images of Michael were, with one allegation of pedophilia after another and another and another…Oh dear."
Simmons went on to say that he knew some of the musicians Jackson toured with, and cited one who quit after seeing "boys coming out of the hotel rooms...Well, you know, where there's smoke there's fire. There's no question in my mind he molested those kids. Not a doubt."
Simmons also said, "There's never been a single female of any age that I've ever known about who has ever made a claim that she has had a physical relationship with Michael, ever.
"The only sexual references ever made about Michael Jackson that were made by anyone, anywhere around the world, have always been made by kids, and specifically males usually 10 to 14 years of age; never females, that age or older, and never grown men."
Contrary to the discontent, Michael's mom told CNN, "I know he [Michael] would be very excited about KISS."
Hmmm, so if I though someone molested children would I honor them at a tribute concert......FUCK NO. Oh well just another day of hypocrisy in the world of KISS. Oh and to make the discussion more fun, check out this old 90s skit from MadTV.
Oh and I forgot to mention, Alien Ant Farm will also be performing at the concert. Hell ya.
Update: KISS have been kicked off the concert lol
